Bills vs. Giants HOF Game Pick
CANTON, OH (The Spread) - The first preseason game kicks off tonight as the Giants take on the Bills in the 2014 Hall of Fame Game at 8:00PM ET.
The Bills already suffered one of the bigger injury blows of the offseason when linebacker Kiko Alonso tore his ACL during workouts. The team also lost safety Jairus Byrd (Saints) and defensive tackle Alex Carrington (Rams) in free agency, plus defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, who became the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns. All-in-all, it was a rough offseason for the Bills defense.
On the other side, the Giants lost Jon Beason to injury, although he should be back by Week 1, and also parted ways with cornerback Aaron Ross, linebacker Keith Rivers (who signed with Buffalo), defensive tackle Linval Joseph and defensive end Justin Tuck. While the Giants should still flash their trademark pass rush, the linebacker and secondary positions are in flux.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Bills are 3-point favorites over the Giants for tonight's 7:00PM ET kickoff. The total for tonight's game is also set at a miniscule 35 points, as the backups for both squads should see plenty of early action in this game.
That said, take the over in tonight's game. Due to the latest CBA rules, teams aren't allowed to hit and tackle that much in practice, which leads to plenty of bad angles, shoddy tackling techniques and thus, big plays for the offense. Even though the backups will play a lot for both teams tonight, the combined score should still go over 35.
