NFC East Division Odds to Win
(The Spread) - The NFC East looks as wide open as ever but with training camps in full swing, the New York Giants are your current favorites to win the division.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Giants are +200 on the money line to win the NFC East in 2014. The Cowboys and Redskins both have the same +240 odds, respectively, while the Eagles are the long shots to win the division at +325.
The Giants remain as steady as ever from a franchise standpoint, although the contract situations of receivers Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks became topics of discussions this offseason. Cruz received a new deal but this will be a contract year for Nicks, who is currently battling a groin injury in camp. With Eli Manning under center, however, the Giants should be competitive once again.
As for the Cowboys, they fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and replaced him with former Tampa Bay Bucs and USC Trojans DC Monte Kiffin. Head coach Jason Garrett was also stripped of the offensive playcalling duties, as Bill Callahan will now run the offense. Tony Romo is under as much pressure to win as ever after receiving a huge contract extension this offseason, and receiver Dez Bryant could be set for a breakout year.
In Washington, the health status of quarterback Robert Griffin III has been the focal point of the offseason. Considering he's already taking reps in training camp is a great sign for a Skins team that will be looking to defend their NFC East title this season. If RGIII is healthy, Washington is a nice buy at +240. The Skins and the Giants are the only two teams in the division that aren't going through any wholesale changes with their coaching staff…
…case in point, the Eagles have a new head coach for the first time in over a decade. Gone is Andy Reid (Kansas City), replaced by former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly, who brings with him an up-tempo offense from the college ranks. Of course, nobody knows who Kelly will name as his starting quarterback for the 2013 season, although Michael Vick appears to have a leg up on Nick Foles. The lose of Jeremy Maclin was recently overshadowed by Riley Cooper being caught on video using a racial slur at a concert last month. The two situations have put a massive damper on the hype surrounding the Eagles.
2013-14 NFC East Division Odds to Win
New York Giants +200
Dallas Cowboys +240
Washington Redskins +240
Philadelphia Eagles +325
