Raiders 2013-14 NFL Season Odds
OAKLAND, CA (The Spread) – Our team-by-team preview of the 2014 NFL season begins with one of the biggest long shots of the offseason: The Oakland Raiders. Could they surprise?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Raiders are 200/1 to win the 2014 Super Bowl, which are the longest odds in the NFL next to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are also 200/1 to win. The Broncos and 49ers, meanwhile, are co-favorites to win next year’s NFL title at 6/1, respectively.
Not surprisingly, the Raiders are also massive long shots to win the AFC title this season at 100/1 odds, which are the same odds as the Jaguars. The Broncos, unsurprisingly, are 2/1 favorites to win the AFC title, while the Patriots are 4/1, the Texans are 13/2 and the Ravens are 10/1.
The Raiders are also 20/1 long shots to win the AFC West Division, while the Broncos are 1/4 favorites, the Chiefs are 6/1 and the Chargers are 7/2. Oakland also has an over/under total of 5.5 for number of wins for the 2013-14 NFL regular season.
The Raiders’ biggest offseason move was to trade for quarterback Matt Flynn, previously of the Packers and more recently, of the Seattle Seahawks. Flynn will step in as the starter after Oakland traded Carson Palmer to Arizona, and will oversee an offense that is severely devoid of talent outside of Darren McFadden. The Raiders also signed Pat Sims , Vance Walker, Kevin Burnett, Nick Roach, Kaluka Maiava, Tracy Porter, Mike Jenkins and veteran Charles Woodson.
It would be a major upset if the Raiders challenged in the AFC West this year. The Broncos are the clear-cut favorite to win the AFC and the Chiefs are seemingly heading in the right direction under new head coach Andy Reid. The Chargers and Raiders are likely to battle for last place in the division and Oakland could challenge Jacksonville for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
