Harvin to have hip surgery
RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin has posted a message on his Twitter account saying he will need surgery on his injured hip.
Harvin sent out the message on Tuesday evening after the team said earlier in the day they still were gathering information. Harvin was in New York on Tuesday seeking a second opinion for soreness in his hip, in the area of his labrum. Seattle coach Pete Carroll has not indicated which hip Harvin is experiencing discomfort.
Harvin tweeted “Sorry to half to report but my injury will require surgery.”
There was no immediate word from the team about when the surgery would take place or how long Harvin might be out. Fellow Seattle receiver Sidney Rice had a hip labrum injury in 2010 and missed the first 2 1/2 months of the season.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Seahawks are currently 17/2 to win the 2014 Super Bowl, which gives them the third-best odds behind the Broncos and 49ers, who are co-favorites at 6/1. The Patriots are also 9/1 to win the Bowl, while the Packers are 12/1 and the Falcons are 14/1.
