Titans, Mariota finally agree on contract
NASHVILLE, TN (The Spread) – Marcus Mariota finally has a contract.
The Titans announced Tuesday that they have locked up their franchise quarterback, signing Mariota nine days before players report for training camp. Mariota was the last rookie first-round pick in this year’s draft to sign his contract after he and the team were at odds over offset language in the contract.
In the end, the Titans and Mariota agreed to partial offset language, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan. Now Mariota can focus on trying to turn the long-shot Titans into a contender in his first year.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Titans are 200/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl. Along with the Jaguars, those are the worst odds of any of the 32 teams to win next year’s NFL championship.
