Bengals sign Dunlap, 33/1 to win SB
CINCINNATI (AP) – The Cincinnati Bengals have signed defensive end Carlos Dunlap to a five-year contract extension worth $40 million.
The Bengals announced the deal Tuesday. Dunlap’s contract would have expired after this season, but it now runs through 2018. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says Dunlap gets $20 million over the first two years in a deal with incentives.
The 6-foot-6, 280-pound Dunlap is a fourth-year pro from Florida. He had 55 tackles and six sacks in 14 games last season.
In a 20-13 victory over San Diego, he had two sacks and forced fumbles, and recovered one late in the game to preserve the victory. He was chosen AFC Defensive Player of the Week for that. He also had a 14-yard interception return for a touchdown against Baltimore.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bengals are currently 33/1 to win the 2014 Super Bowl. The 49ers remain favored at 6/1, while the Broncos have the next-best odds at 13/2 and the Seahawks are 8/1. The Patriots, meanwhile, are 9/1, the Packers are 12/1 and the Falcons are 14/1 to win next year’s NFL title.
