Broncos sign Thomas, 12/1 to win SB
DENVER, CO (The Spread) – On Wednesday the Broncos signed receiver Demaryius Thomas to a new five-year, $70 million contract.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that Thomas’ deal also includes $43.5 million guaranteed, which is only slightly less than the $45 million guaranteed that Dez Bryant received from the Cowboys on Wednesday. Like Thomas, Bryant’s contract extension is also for five years and $70 million.
Both Thomas and Bryant were reportedly seeking $16 million per year, which is what Calvin Johnson received when he signed his new deal with the Lions in 2013. Ultimately, both Thomas and Bryant have to be happy not to have to play out 2015 on a one-year deal and risk getting hurt. (Or, holding out and missing regular season games.)
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Broncos are currently 12/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl and 5/1 to win the NFC Conference Championship. They’re also 1/2 to win the AFC West Division.
