JPP injures hand in accident
NEW YORK, NY (The Spread) – Giants pass-rusher Jason Pierre-Paul suffered a hand injury during a fireworks accident on the fourth of July.
The original report came from Andy Slater of WINZ in Florida. This led to a rash of Twitter rumors that Pierre-Paul had lost fingers and/or parts of his hand in the accident. But since the original report broke, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that “early indications” are Pierre-Paul’s injury is “not career threatening.”
A source with knowledge of the situation also told NJ.com that Pierre-Paul’s hand is going to be okay and ESPN’s Chris Mortesen tweeted Sunday that the defensive end’s injury “may not be game or season threatening.”
Pierre-Paul has not signed his franchise tender so the Giants would be off the hook for his $14.813 million salary if they decided to rescind the offer. Pierre-Paul would then become an unrestricted free agent.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Giants are 28/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl. The Packers are the currently favorites at 6/1.
