Bucs Long Shots Following Winston Ban
Last week the NFL suspended Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston three games for violating the league’s personal-conduct policy. Here’s an updated look at the Bucs’ Super Bowl odds following the news.
In a statement, the NFL warned Winston that “a future violation of the Personal Conduct Policy will result in more substantial discipline, including a potential ban from the NFL.” This is the first known incident of Winston’s professional career but he’s had off-field issues dating back to his time at Florida State.
In 2013, while enrolled at FSU, Winston was the subject of sexual assault allegations. What followed was shoplifting incidents in 2013 and 2014, then he was suspended for a 2014 game at FSU for vulgar comments. This latest incident occurred in 2016 when Winston was accused of groping an Uber driver.
Winston is eligible to return for a Week 4 road game against the Bears but he’ll miss the Bucs’ games against the Saints, Eagles and Steelers. Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to start those three games in Winston’s absence.
According to oddsmakers, the Bucs are 65/1 long shots to win the Super Bowl next season. They also have the longest odds to win the NFC South Division at 10/1 and are just 35/1 to win the NFC title next season.
