Winston getting serious
TAMPA, FL (TheSpread) – Jameis Winston is trying to prove he is serious about being a top NFL quarterback. Will he lead Tampa Bay to a strong 2015?
After taking part in the NFL rookie symposium on Friday, Winston spoke to the media and addressed his controversial past and how he hopes to correct it as a pro.
“Social media can help you in so many ways from a positive standpoint,” Winston said. “I can’t control what people put on social media about me, but I can control my actions and what I do. It’s about my actions. I got to be a quarterback. When I’m off the field, I got to be a quarterback; when I’m on the field, I got to be a quarterback. I know people are going to look at me in each and every way. I just smile, man.”
According to the latest oddsmakers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are listed with 100/1 odds to win the Super Bowl next season. The Green Bay Packers are the favorites with 6/1 odds, while the Seattle Seahawks have 13/2 odds.
Tampa Bay is coming off a season where it had a very lackluster passing attack. The Bucs threw for just 3,297 yards and 21 touchdowns while having 20 interceptions as a team. They were also sacked 52 times. Winston comes in as the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. He threw for 3,907 yards with 25 touchdowns and 18 interceptions last season while throwing for 4,057 yards with 40 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2013, the year he won the Heisman Trophy.
