Steelers Season Odds
After winning their second Super Bowl title in four years last year, the Pittsburgh Steelers once again are one of the favorites to win a championship this season.
Like usual, the Steelers were quiet in the offseason, choosing to re-sign their own players instead of making a splash on the free agent market. They franchised offensive tackle Max Starks and then re-signed restricted free agents Chris Kemoeatu, Willie Colon and Trai Essex.
In the draft, Pittsburgh selected Missouri defensive tackle Evander “Ziggy” Hood with the 32nd overall pick in the first round and then had three selections in round three, taking offensive guard Kraig Urbik, wide receiver Mike Wallace and cornerback Keenan Lewis.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have established the Steelers’ odds to win Super Bowl XLIV at 6/1. They’ve also given Pittsburgh 2/1 odds to win the AFC and –200 moneyline odds to win the AFC North.
All the pieces are in place for the Steelers to make another run at a Super Bowl title. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, receivers Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward, as well as running back Willie Parker all return on offense, while the defense the suffocated opponents all last year returns largely intact. And with the Patriots expected to be everyone’s Super Bowl favorites again this year, you can’t beat 6/1 odds for the Steelers. This team is too good (especially defensively) to be given those kinds of odds and bettors should jump now before they lower. As long as guys like Troy Polamalu stays healthy and the offensive line doesn’t fall apart like everyone expected it to last year, Pittsburgh will once again make a deep run in the postseason.
