Cardinals 2014 Season Win Total
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread)- Will the Arizona Cardinals come close to winning 10 games again this season after narrowly missing the playoffs a year ago?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cardinals’ current over/under for number of wins in 2014 is sitting at 7.5. The over is carrying 2/3 odds (meaning that you’ll win $2.00 for every $3.00 that you wager), while the under has odds of 6/5 (meaning that you’d win $6.00 for every $5.00 wagered).
In free agency, the Cardinals signed linebackers Larry Foote and Ernie Sims, cornerback Antonio Cromartie and offensive tackle Jared Veldheer, who should greatly improve Carson Palmer’s blindside protection. They also added depth with the signings of Ted Ginn Jr., John Carlson and running back Jonathan Dwyer, formerly of the Steelers.
In the draft the Cards selected Washington State safety Deone Bucannon with their first-round pick and Notre Dame tight end Troy Niklas with their second-round selection. In the third round they took North Carolina defensive end Kareem Martin and Pittsburg State receiver John Brown, who is already drawing praise as a potentially kick returner.
Assuming Palmer’s play doesn’t fall off a cliff, the Cardinals should eclipse the 7.5-win mark. The addition of Veldheer and the return of 2013 first-round pick Jonathan Cooper (fibula) should help the offensive line, while Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd give Palmer plenty to work with in the receiving corps. Despite playing in the hardest division in football, Arizona has a real chance of at least going 8-8 and covering the over for bettors.
