Sammy Watkins’ OROY Award Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – Will Bills receiver Sammy Watkins take home Offensive Rookie of the Year honors this NFL season? Let’s take a look at his odds.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Watkins’ odds to win the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year are 4/1, which make him a co-favorite along with Mike Evans to win the award. Johnny Manziel, meanwhile, is 6/1 to take home the homors while Bradin Cooks of the Saints is 12/1.
The Bills traded up with the Browns to select Watkins with the No. 4 overall pick in this month’s NFL draft. Buffalo parted with the No. 9 overall pick, its 2015 first-round selection, and a 2015 fourth-round pick in order to make the deal, so you know the Bills have big plans for the former Clemson star.
Watkins needed only three seasons at Clemson to set school records in catches (240) and receiving yards (3,391) while averaging 14.1 yards per reception. He also finished with 30 all-purpose touchdowns as he was a first-team All-American as both a freshman and a junior.
Coach Doug Marrone said recently that Watkins and teammate Robert Woods will both get chances to play in the slot this year after the Bills traded Stevie Johnson. Marrone figures to use Watkins in a variety of ways and as previously mentioned, the team figures to use the rookie heavily this season. In terms of winning the rookie of the year award, it starts with opportunity and finishes with the rook being productive. Watkins will certainly have the opportunity, so we’ll see if he can produce, especially with a shaky quarterback situation.
Bet on Watkins to win the OROY Award
