Yeldon to become Jags’ feature back?
JACKSONVILLE, FL (The Spread) – At least one reporter believes that T.J. Yeldon will wind up being Gus Bradley’s featured back in Jacksonville.
ESPN Jaguars reporter Mike DiRocco expects Yeldon to become Jacksonville’s “feature back” this season. With Denard Robinson and Toby Gerhart currently atop the team’s depth chart, DiRocco’s expectation is likely to be right on the money. Bradley reportedly wanted GM David Caldwell to take Yeldon in the second round of this year’s NFL draft and Caldwell obliged.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Yeldon has 10/1 odds to become the 2015 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He’s listed behind Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston (6/1), Chargers running back Melvin Gordon (13/2), as well as a host of others.
Seeing as how Yeldon could immediately become the Jags’ workhorse back, there will be plenty of opportunities for carries. He could be a sleeper for this year’s Rookie of the Year.
