Brady suspended 4 games
FOXBOROUGH, MA (TheSpread) – The punishment for the New England Patriots was handed down on Monday and Tom Brady has been suspended for four games to start the 2015 season.
The NFL suspended Brady for four games and fined the Patriots $1 million while also taking away a first-round draft pick in 2016 and a fourth-round draft pick in 2017.
“With respect to your particular involvement, the report established that there is substantial and credible evidence to conclude you were at least generally aware of the actions of the Patriots’ employees involved in the deflation of the footballs and that it was unlikely that their actions were done without your knowledge,” NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent wrote in a letter to Brady in regards to the suspension.
According to the latest oddsmakers at GTBets, the Patriots are currently listed at 10/1 to win the Super Bowl next season. New England opened as a 7/1 favorite following their win over the Seahawks. Seattle is the current favorite at 6/1.
The Patriots will lose Brady for games against the Steelers, Bills, Jaguars and the Cowboys. As of now, he will be eligible to return on Oct. 18 against the Colts. Brady can appeal the suspension and possibly see it reduced. Right now, one would anticipate that the Patriots would turn to Jimmy Garoppolo, a second-year NFL quarterback, with Brady gone. Even with a four-game suspension, the Patriots should have plenty of ability to reach the playoffs and be a strong contender.
