Hawks add Pryor, close with Sherman
SEATTLE, WA (The Spread) – The Seahawks made a trade on Monday and might be nearing a new deal with one of their top defenders.
The Seahawks acquired quarterback Terrelle Pryor from the Raiders for a seventh-round draft pick on Monday. The 49ers were also reportedly interested in Pryor, so it’s interesting that their NFC West rivals were interested in the former Ohio State product, too. Pryor will compete with former South Florida signal-caller B.J. Daniels for the No. 3 responsibilities behind starter Russell Wilson and backup Tarvaris Jackson.
Meanwhile, Jason La Canfora tweets that the Seahawks and Richard Sherman “have made considerable progress” on a long-term deal that will make Sherman the highest-paid corner in the NFL. The two sides are looking at a deal that will be worth more than $13 million annually, which would pay him more than Darrelle Revis. Revis is currently the highest-paid corner in the league at $12 million for 2014, while Aqib Talib set the new bar at $26 million in guarantees when he signed a free agent deal with the Broncos earlier this spring.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Seahawks remain favored to win the 2015 Super Bowl at 6/1 odds. The team with the next-best odds are the Broncos at 7/1, while the Patriots and 49ers are both 15/2, respectively, while the Packers are 12/1. The Bears, Colts and Saints are all 20/1, respectively.
The Seahawks are also the favorites to win the 2015 NFC Conference at 7/2 odds, while the 49ers are 4/1 and the Packers are 7/1. The Saints are 10/1 to win the conference title, while the Bears and Eagles are 12/1, respectively and the Panthers are 14/1.
