Will Rams select Robinson at No. 2?
ST. LOUIS, MO (The Spread) – Will the Rams target one of the top offensive tackles in the draft next month? Latest reports suggest that they will consider the idea.
AL.com’s Joel Erickson reports that Auburn tackle Greg Robinson has a private workout set up with the Rams coming up before the draft.
“I have St. Louis coming up,” Robinson said. “They can’t work me out at their facilities. Anything like htat has to be at Auburn or at my high school.”
Robinson previously had a pre-draft visit with the Rams and now he’ll receive an opportunity to work out in front of Jeff Fisher and/or his staff. After Jake Long tore his ACL towards the end of the regular season in 2013, offensive tackles have been on the Rams’ radar as the draft nears. Robinson and Texas A&M offensive tackle Jake Matthews are considered the best prospects in this year’s class.
Of course, if the Texans bypass Jadeveon Clowney at No. 1 in favor of a quarterback, then the Rams could add Clowney to a defensive line that already includes Robert Quinn, Chris Long and Michael Brockers. Clowney might not fill a need for the Rams, but he’s regarded as the best player in the draft so the Rams would certainly be justified if they pull the trigger on the South Carolina defensive end.
