NFL Week 1 Odds
The 2009 NFL Season is still months away, but that doesn’t mean bettors don’t have the chance to wager on some of the action.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have already released the Week 1 odds for the 2009 NFL Season.
The 2009 NFL Season kicks off on Thursday, September 9 when the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers host their conference rivals, the Tennessee Titans. Oddsmakers have made the Steelers an early 5-point favorite in that contest.
The first Sunday in the NFL features some great Week 1 matchups. Two teams that came out of nowhere to make playoff appearances in 2008 were the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Falcons. Oddsmakers have made the Dolphins an early 4-point underdog despite winning the AFC East Division last season.
Another Week 1 matchup that features two teams that made the playoffs last year is the Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are an early 1.5-point home favorite, although the Eagles have had quite the productive offseason, including trading for former Buffalo Bills’ offensive tackle Jason Peters.
Two NFC East rivals square off at the Meadowlands in New Jersey, as the Washington Redskins are 6-point road underdogs against the Giants in Week 1. Jay Cutler will also make his Chicago Bears debut when they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers, who are early 3-point home favorites.
There are two Monday Night Football games on the Week 1 schedule, including a matchup between AFC East rivals the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots. With Tom Brady expected to return to full health, oddsmakers have made the Pats 10-point favorites. The other MNF game pits AFC West rivals against each other, as the Oakland Raiders are a 6.5-point home underdog against the San Diego Chargers.
