Manning suffered an ankle injury in the 2013 season finale against the Washington Redskins and after attempts to rehab, Manning underwent surgery on Thursday to correct the issue and clean out the ankle.

"I went through the recovery and rehab after suffering the sprain," Manning said in the release. "I was still experiencing some discomfort as I began my normal offseason preparation, and after consultation, we felt the right thing was to have Dr. Anderson clean out the ankle."

Manning will miss the Giants offseason program, but should be find to begin training camp in preparation for the 2014 season. Manning threw for 3,818 yards with 18 touchdowns and 27 touchdowns last season.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, New York has been given 40/1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIX. The Seattle Seahawks are favored to repeat, as they have 6/1 odds, while the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers each have 15/2 odds.

The Giants will play in this year’s Hall of Fame Game, facing the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 3 to begin the preseason.
