GREEN BAY, WI (The Spread) – How many sacks will Julius Peppers have with the Packers in 2014? Let’s take a look at the odds.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the over/under for number of sacks by Peppers this year has been set at 9, with the odds for both the over and under set at -115. That means you’ll win $100.00 for every $115.00 that you wager on either the over or under.

Peppers signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Packers in mid-March. The deal also includes $7.5 million guaranteed for the 34-year-old, who was cut byt the Bears just four days before he was picked up by Green Bay. The eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro has 119 career sacks and 40 forced fumbles during his career.

So will he get to nine sacks in 2014? He fell short of that mark last year when he recorded seven sacks for a brutal Chicago defense. But in two years prior to that, he recorded 11 and 11.5, respectively, for the 2011 and 2012 Bears. In fact, he’s recorded double-digit sack totals in eight of his 12 career seasons.

One thing that will be interesting to watch is how Peppers will fit in Dom Capers’ defense. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel suggested after Peppers signed with the Packers that he would be employed in the “elephant” role, which will consist of him lining up as both an end and an interior rusher.
