Several teams interested in DJax
PHILADELPHIA, PA (The Spread) – Following his release by the Eagles on Friday, seven teams are reportedly interested in receiver DeSean Jackson.
According to New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta reports that seven teams have contacted Jackson, although the Jets are not one of them. Apparently there are still people inside the Jets’ organization that are interested in the receiver, but rumors surrounding his potential ties to gang affiliations may have scared teams away.
Among the teams that are reportedly pursuing Jackson are the Chiefs and Raiders, and the 49ers were reportedly interested in acquiring the 27-year-old before his release from the Eagles. Oakland is severely devoid of talent and has the cap space to attract Jackson back to California, where he played his college ball.
Profootballtalk reports that “it’s very possible” Jackson could command more than $10.7 million that he was due from the Eagles in 2014. Mike Florio notes that it’s not yet known whether Jackson is seeking a short-term deal or a multi-year contract. But if there are seven teams interested in his services, it’s not unreasonable that he could command a high dollar amount.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI currently list the Eagles with 18/1 odds to win the 2015 Super Bowl. The Jets, meanwhile, are 50/1 long shots, while the Raiders are 75/1 and the Chiefs are 33/1.
