Vikings 10/1 after signing Cousins
After signing free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins to a deal, the Vikings are 10/1 to win the 2019 Super Bowl. Where does that put them among the other teams in terms of odds?
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook YouWager, the Vikings’ 10/1 odds to win the Super Bowl put them behind only two other teams. Those teams met in the Super Bowl a year ago, as the Patriots are 2019 NFL title favorites at 6/1 and the defending champion Eagles are 17/2. That’s how oddsmakers are on Minnesota following the signing of Cousins.
The three-year pact with Cousins is believed to be for around $86 million. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the contract will be fully-guaranteed, which is eye-popping for a free agent. The contract will be finalized by Thursday.
Cousins is joining a team that reached the NFC Championship Game last year. Minnesota maintains one of the best defenses in the NFL and Cousins will have plenty of weapons to throw to in the passing game. Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, Kyle Rudolph and second-year running back Dalvin Cook provide Cousins with significant upgrades over what he had last year in Washington.
Meanwhile, the Steelers are 10/1 to win the 2019 Super Bowl, followed by the re-tooled Packers at 12/1. Green Bay made a couple of moves itself on Tuesday, agreeing to terms with former Jets defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson and former Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham. The Pack also released long-time receiver Jordy Nelson.
The Rams are 15/1, the Falcons, Texans, Saints and 49ers are all 25/1, respectively, while the Cowboys, Broncos, Jaguars, Chargers, Raiders and Seahawks are all 35/1, respectively.
