Broncos land three top free agents
DENVER, CO (The Spread) – One day after landing the best cornerback prospect on the free agent market, the Denver Broncos landed one of the elite pass-rushers.
The Broncos signed cornerback Aqib Talib to a six-year, $57 million contract with $26 million guaranteed on Tuesday, which was the first day that teams could officially sign free agents. He’ll pair with fellow free agent safety T.J. Ward in a re-built secondary under defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio.
Less than 24 hours the Broncos made another splash on the free agent market by agreeing to terms with former Cowboy DeMarcus Ware. The defensive end signed a three-year, $30 million contract that includes $20 million in guaranteed money. Ware was cut by Dallas on Tuesday and despite the two sides leaving open the possibility of him returning, he signed with the Broncos on the same day he visited Denver.
Before the start of free agency, oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv listed the Broncos as 10/1 to win the 2015 Super Bowl, which gave them the third-best odds behind the Seahawks (11/2) and 49ers (13/2). The Broncos were also 4/1 to win the AFC title game, although those odds are likely to change following their signings yesterday.
