Bears send Marshall to Jets
CHICAGO, IL (TheSpread) – The Chicago Bears have made a surprising move today, electing to trade Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets pending a physical.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on the trade, which can’t become official until the free-agency period opens up at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. It is currently unknown what the Jets are sending back to the Bears for the nine-year NFL veteran who has is also a five-time NFL Pro Bowler.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Chicago Bears are currently listed with 40/1 odds to win the Super Bowl in 2016. The Jets are currently listed with 75/1 odds. Seattle is the favorite to win with 11/2 odds while New England has 6/1 odds to repeat as champions.
Marshall is coming off his worst season in his three years with the Bears, catching 61 passes for 721 yards with eight touchdowns. He missed three games during the season due to injuries. It marked the first time Marshall didn’t have at least 80 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards since his rookie season in 2005. For his career, Marshall has 773 receptions for 9,771 yards and 65 touchdowns.
