Cowboys to use tag on Bryant
DALLAS, TX (The Spread) – Cowboys VP Stephen Jones confirmed that the team will use its franchise tag on free agent receiver Dez Bryant.
“I think it would be a stretch to think we would have something done by Monday,” Jones said via a FOX Sports Southwest report. “Looks like we’re eyeing a franchise tag on Dez, but that certainly won’t stop us from working hard to get a long-term deal.”
Even if the franchise tag is used, the two sides will likely work on constructing a long-term contract extension that will keep Bryant a Cowboy for the foreseeable future. The receiver will make roughly $13 million for the 2015 season if the two sides aren’t able to come together on a deal by the July 15 deadline.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cowboys are 14/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl and 7/1 to win the NFC Conference Championship next season.
