Harbaugh almost traded to Browns?
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (The Spread) – According to multiple sources, the Browns nearly acquired 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh in a trade.
“Multiple league sources” tell ProfootballTalk.com that the Browns would have traded multiple draft picks to the 49ers to acquire Harbaugh but the current Niners coach ultimately decided to stay in San Francisco. Cleveland wound up hiring former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.
There have been reports that Harbaugh and San Francisco general manager Trent Baalke have been at odds. If true, this near-trade may signal that the tension between the two is worse than previously believed. Of course, ProfootballTalk.com also reported just last week that the 49ers and Harbaugh were nearing a contract extension.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the 49ers are currently 13/2 to win next year’s Super Bowl, while the Browns are 66/1 long shots. The Seahawks are currently 11/2 favorites to win Super Bowl XLIX, while the Patriots are 9/1 and the Broncos are 10/1.
