Schwartz hopes Lions stay course
EAST LANSING, MI (AP) – Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz is proud the Lions didn’t panic after starting 2-10 last season.
Schwartz’s team finished the season with four straight wins, and with several young standouts on the roster, Detroit is poised to keep improving. Schwartz says in the past, Detroit would overreact and change course after disappointing results, but the Lions haven’t done that during his two seasons as coach.
Schwartz spoke Thursday as a guest at a Michigan AP Sports Editors meeting. He avoided discussing too many controversial topics, such as the collective bargaining negotiations, but he did spend some time looking back at an encouraging finish to the season.
