Patriots Remain Favored over Giants
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (The Spread) - Even though the majority of the public favors the Giants, the Patriots remain the favorites for Super Bowl XLVI according to odds makers. When the odds were released the night of Championship Sunday, the Patriots opened as 3.5-point favorites. But the line was immediately bet down to 3 and has hovered between 2.5 and 3 points since that point. Most of the Vegas sports books currently list New England as a 3-point favorite despite the public’s support for New York. Of the wagers placed on tonight’s game, 61% of the NFL betting public currently favors the Giants. And while this information is subject to change leading up to kickoff, it doesn’t appear as though the public will be flipping from the Giants to the Patriots. According to latest NFL trends, the underdog is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams and the Giants are 5-1 ATS in their last six games versus the Patriots. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams and 5-1 in New York’s last six games overall. The Giants defeated the Patriots 24-20 as 9-point underdogs in Week 9 of the 2011 NFL season. Eli Manning threw for 250 yards on 20-of-39 passing with one interception, while Tom Brady threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns but was also picked off twice in the defeat. Michael Boley and Jason Pierre-Paul combined for two sacks for New York in the victory. Want More From TheSpread.com? Follow us on Twitter and Facebook or Subscribe to Our News Feeds! |
