49ers vs. Ravens Injury Report
NEW ORLEANS, LA (The Spread) – Both teams are relatively healthy for Super Bowl XLVII, which kicks off in a few hours. That said, let's check out he official injury report.
The Ravens are in good shape, at least on paper. Fourteen players are listed as probable, including pass rusher Terrell Suggs (Achilles, biceps), safety Ed Reed (shoulder), tight end Dennis Pitta (thigh), defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (knee), running back Bernard Pierce (knee, thigh), and linebackers Ray Lewis (triceps) and Dannell Ellerbe (toe, back).
The other Baltimore players that are probable include Tandon Doss, Asa Jackson, Vonta Leach, Albert McClellan, Pernell McPhee, and Jimmy Smith.
Despite his game status, the biggest injury question mark for the Ravens is Ellerbe, who reportedly looked sharp earlier this week. While he once commented that he was playing through the worst pain of his career this postseason, he ran without a limp on Wednesday and appears set to play this evening.
As for the 49ers, 12 players are listed as probable, including linebackers Ahmad Brooks (shoulder), Aldon Smith (shoulder), Patrick Willis (shoulder) and NaVorro Bowman (shoulder), as well as cornerback Tarell Brown (shoulder) and running backs Frank Gore (shoulder, ankle) and LaMichael James (finger). The probable players are tight end Garrett Celek (foot), Clark Haggans (shoulder), Mike Iupati (shoulder) and fullback Bruce Miller (shoulder).
Defensive end Justin Smith is also probable, although he said earlier this week that his left triceps is approximately 50 percent torn and that he'll need offseason surgery. But considering how effective he was in the Niners' previous two postseason games, the injury isn't a huge concern unless he were to suffer greater damage to his arm.
Kickoff for tonight's game is set for 6:30PM ET. According to online sports book Bovada.lv, the 49ers are 4-point favorites over the Ravens while the over/under total is sitting at 47.5 points. The line opened at 4.5 but has been bet down to 4 or 3.5 depending on what sport book you view.
