Giants vs. Patriots Injury Report
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (The Spread) – What’s the latest on the injuries surrounding Super Bowl XLVI between the Giants and Patriots? The most significant injury surrounding Sunday’s game is Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski’s ankle. While it was on a limited basis, the “Gronk” did return to practice on Thursday and all indications are that he will play in Super Bowl XLVI. Other players that have been limited in practice for New England are offensive lineman Marcus Cannon (ankle), safety Patrick Chung (foot), linebacker Dane Fletcher (thumb), defensive tackle Kyle Love (ankle), guard Logan Mankins (knee), linebackers Rob Ninkovich (hip), Brandon Spikes (knee) and Tracy White (abdomen), offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (sick/back/foot), and receiver Wes Welker (knee). Receiver Deion Branch (knee), center Dan Connolly (groin), safety James Ihedigbo (shoulder), offensive tackle Matt Light (sick) and receiver Matthew Slater (shoulder) all practiced in full on Thursday and are expected to play on Sunday barring any setbacks. The Giants, meanwhile, are relatively healthy. They don’t have any players on the active roster listed as “out” or “doubtful” for Sunday’s showdown with the Patriots. That said, running back Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), receiver Hakeem Nicks (shoulder), defensive end Osi Umenyiora (ankle/knee), cornerback Corey Webster (hamstring) and linebacker Jacquian Williams (foot) have all been limited in practice this week. Oddsmakers currently list the Patriots as 3-point favorites over the Giants for Sunday’s game, while the total is hovering between 54 and 53 points depending on the sports book.
