Patriots Super Bowl Player Props

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (The Spread) – The Patriots have plenty of weapons to use heading into Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday. Here is a look at the player prop odds for New England.

Oddsmakers see the Patriots as a 3-point favorite against the Giants come Sunday’s Super Bowl, but they also have a lengthy list of different odds to consider for just Patriot players. Clearly the main focus of the prop odds is on quarterback Tom Brady. Oddsmakers have a number of options for Brady. One to consider is total passing yards, where oddsmakers have set an over/under total of 320.5 yards for Brady. This season, Brady averaged 327 passing yards in the regular season and 301 yards in the playoffs. In a loss to the Giants back on Nov. 6, Brady threw for 342 yards. The Giants came into the playoffs with one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL, allowing 255.1 yards per game through the air.

In the rushing game, the Pats have a few options to turn to. Oddsmakers see BenJarvus Green-Ellis as the primary back and they have given him an over/under of 47.5 rushing yards for Sunday’s game. He averaged just 41.7 yards per game on the season, and is averaging 48 yards per game in two playoff games. Seven times this season he has rushed for over 47.5 yards, but he has needed at least 12 carries in each of those instances. The Giants have given up an average of 121.3 rushing yards per game.

Defensively, New England has been about cornerback Kyle Arrington. He has seven interceptions this season and oddsmakers have given him a money line of +325 to get an INT on Sunday and odds of -450 to not get one. Arrington has had an INT in five different games this year, including the 24-20 loss to the Giants. Eli Manning had 16 INT’s this past season and is somewhat prone to turnovers.

In the special teams department, kicker Stephen Gostkowski has been given over/under odds of 1.5 made field goals on Sunday. He has made at least one field goal in every Patriots game this season and is averaging 1.77 per game through New England’s 18 games. He has had at least two field goals in 11 games this year and he made two against the Giants earlier this season while attempting a total of three.
