Super Bowl Non-Game Prop Odds

2012 super bowl non game prop odds coin toss

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (The Spread) – The 2012 Super Bowl will be a big betting event, but there is a lot more than just football that you can wager on.

The one bet that seems like a sure 50/50 split to win is the coin toss. Every year, millions place a wager on the coin toss of the Super Bowl, and the odds to win never change. Oddsmakers have given heads and tails both a money line of -115 to be flipped. Heads has been the winner of the coin toss in the last three Super Bowls and in four of the last five games. In 45 Super Bowls, heads has been the flip 22 times, and tails has come up 23 times. It truly is a guessing game. The longest streak of any flip was four, which has occurred three different times. A flip of heads this year would tie that mark for the fourth time.

Another part of the Super Bowl that has a lot of attention is the National Anthem. This year’s national anthem will be sung by American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson. The over/under for length of time it takes for Clarkson to sin is 1 minute, 34 seconds. That time may seem short, as the Super Bowl National Anthem tends to be drawn out a little bit, but according to the New York Times, Clarkson has a history of short anthems. According to them, Clarkson’s longest anthem performance came in at 1 minute, 38 seconds at a charity event in 2000. Her average anthem time in the past is 1 minute, 31 seconds and other than the charity event in 2000, she has never went past 1 minute, 34 seconds.

Another interesting prop with the national anthem is whether or not Clarkson will forget or omit at least 1 word of the national anthem. The only wager available is Yes and it comes in with odds of +300. Last year the big news aside from the Super Bowl was Christina Aguilera forgetting words to the song.

Another major event at the Super Bowl is the Halftime Show. This year, Madonna is performing for the first time. There are a number of different props for the show that include wardrobe, hair color, and what kind of microphone she will be using to start. When it comes to the microphone, the odds that she uses a headset is at -300 while the odds that she uses a handheld mic is at +200. Madonna incorporates a lot of dancing into her performances, which requires a headset typically. There could be a chance she starts the show slowly, but the odds seem to be on headset for the right reasons.
