EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – Despite the weather, will there be plenty of points scored in Super Bowl XLVIII? Here is a look at the points prop odds for the game.

Sunday’s Super Bowl features the Denver Broncos taking on the Seattle Seahawks from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ at 6:30PM ET (View Matchup). According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Denver is a 2-point favorite over the Seahawks for Sunday’s game. The over/under total for the game has been set at 47 points.

When it comes to the total points props, 43-49 points has the shortest odds at 15/4. The next shortest odds are 36-42 points and 50-56 points, which each have 4/1 odds.

This game features the NFL’s top offense against the NFL’s top defense, but the Broncos’ defense and Seahawks’ offense will also factor into the total points. Denver posted an average of 37.9 points per game this season and allowed 24.9 points per game, while Seattle scored 26.1 points per game and gave up 14.4 per contest.

In the postseason, Denver’s offense has been much more tame, averaging just 25 points per game, but the Broncos’ defense has been better, allowing only 16.5 points per game. The Seahawks have scored 23 points in each playoff game while allowing an average of 16 points per game in the two playoff contests.

Peyton Manning was featured in the last Super Bowl to be played in the outdoors, as the Saints beat his Colts, 31-17. Manning also played in Super Bowl XLI, which was held outdoors in the rain and saw a final score of 29-17. Last year’s Super Bowl saw a total of 65 points posted, but was played indoors. The last outdoor Super Bowl to post more than 50 points was Super Bowl XXXVII, which was held in San Diego and saw Tampa Bay beat Oakland, 48-21.
