Super Bowl XLVII Updated Odds

NEW ORLEANS, LA (The Spread) - The point spread for Super Bowl VLVII hasn't moved much since opening, although the San Francisco 49ers remain favored over the Baltimore Ravens.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the 49ers are 4-point favorites versus the Ravens, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 48 points. The Ravens are also +150 on the money line, while the 49ers are -170 on the ML.

The 49ers opened as a 4.5-point favorite but with so much early action coming on the Ravens, the spread has been bet down to 4 at most sports books. In fact, some online books are even offering San Francisco as low as 3.5. Considering 58% of NFL public bettors currently favor Baltimore, the spread is unlikely to move much this week unless the sharps start hitting either side.

According to the latest trends, the home team is 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams, which means very little with this game being played in the Super Bowl (although technically San Francisco is the home team).  The Ravens, meanwhile, are 4-0 against the spread in their last four playoff games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Niners are 4-1 ATS in their last five games on fieldturf and 5-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record.

Injuries shouldn't play a huge factor in Sunday's game. San Francisco defensive end Justin Smith says his torn left triceps tendon is getting better since he returned two days ago, and Baltimore linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (ankle) isn't at risk to miss the game despite missing practice all of last week. Ellerbe indicated that he would have played if the game was last Sunday.
