Vernon Davis Super Bowl Props
NEW ORLEANS, LA (The Spread) – Vernon Davis made a big impact for the 49ers in the NFC Championship. Will Davis play a big role in Super Bowl XLVII?
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Davis has been given odds of 18/1 to win the Super Bowl MVP Award. Oddsmakers have also set his over/under odds for receptions at 3.5 and receiving yards for 50.5.
Davis had a relatively quiet regular season, catching just 41 passes for 548 yards and five touchdowns. However, he had arguably his best game of the season last week against the Falcons, where he caught five passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. This season, Davis had at least four receptions in just six games and had at least 51 receiving yards in just five of the 18 total games for the 49ers. Davis can be a force, but targets in the passing game are the key. He has been targeted at least 5 times in each of the two playoff games. In last season’s meeting with the Ravens, Davis had four receptions for 38 yards. However, Colin Kaepernick wasn’t the quarterback of the 49ers at the time.
The Ravens had an average passing defense this season, which allowed 228.1 yards per contest, but the Ravens dealt with injuries most of the year and are healthy coming into the Super Bowl. The Ravens have faced some respectable tight ends in the playoffs, but they have also faced teams that rely on the passing game more than the 49ers. Aaron Hernandez of the Patriots caught nine passes for 83 yards last week against Baltimore. For Denver, Joel Dreessen and Jacob Tamme combined for nine receptions and 90 yards. In the game with the Colts, the Ravens allowed Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener to catch a combined 7 passes for 76 yards.
