NEW ORLEANS, LA (The Spread) – Dennis Pitta is emerging as a big receiving target for the Ravens. Will the third-year tight end be a big force for Baltimore in Super Bowl XLVII?

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Pitta has been given odds of 40/1 to win the Super Bowl MVP Award. Oddsmakers have also set his over/under odds for receptions at 4 and receiving yards for 45.5.

Pitta caught 61 passes for 669 yards this regular season, averaging 3.8 receptions and 41.8 receiving yards per game. In the playoffs, Pitta has been a steady option for Joe Flacco. Pitta has 10 catches for 137 yards in three playoff games, which is an average of 3.3 receptions and 45.6 yards per game. Pitta has had at least 4 receptions in 11 of the team’s 19 games this season. He has also had at least 46 receiving yards in nine of the 19 games. Pitta has also been targeted 14 times in the playoffs, which is just under 5 targets per game.

Coming into the playoffs, the 49ers had one of the top passing defenses in the country. San Francisco allowed just 200.2 passing yards per game during the season. Last week, in the NFC Championship, the 49ers struggled against the pass, allowing just under 400 yards to the Falcons. Tight end Tony Gonzalez caught eight passes for 78 yards for Atlanta, making a catch every time he was targeted. Against the Packers, the 49ers held them to 248 passing yards and tight end Jermichael Finley was held to four passes for 35 yards.
