Super Bowl XLIX First Score Odds
GLENDALE, AZ (The Spread) – Of all the potential scoring options to open Super Bowl XLIX, which one will occur when the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks meet up.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, a Patriots Touchdown is favored to be the first score, as it has 7/4 odds. A Seahawks TD has 37/20 odds while a Pats FG is at 4/1 and a Seahawks FG is at 7/2 The odds for a safety from either team is at 33/1. Super Bowl XLIX will be played on Sunday, Feb. 1 from University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona at 6:30PM ET.
As you will recall, the first play from scrimmage in last year’s Super Bowl saw the Seahawks score a safety on the Broncos and three years ago, the Giants scored on a safety on an intentional grounding penalty in the end zone. So, both teams have had a safety start the scoring in their last Super Bowl appearance.

For the Seahawks, they have scored first in 10 of the 18 games they have played in this season. Of those 10 games, a FG was their opening score in six of them and a touchdown in four of them. When giving up the first score, Seattle allowed a FG six of the eight occasions and they only gave up a TD to start the scoring twice this year.
For the Patriots, they have scored first in 10 of the 18 games they have played in as well. Of those 10 games, the Patriots scored a touchdown first in eight of those games, while settling for a FG twice. Of the eight games the Pats allowed the first score, it was a touchdown on five occasions and a FG on three.
