Super Bowl XLIX Points Odds
GLENDALE, AZ (The Spread) – Super Bowl XLIX is shaping up to be, what looks like, a pretty even matchup. What do oddsmakers think about the point total odds for both teams in this one?
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, they have given both the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks an over/under of 24.5 points for the big game. The Patriots over/under has a money line of -115 attached to both wagers while Seattle’s over of 24.5 has a line of -105 and the under has odds of -125. Super Bowl XLIX will be played on Sunday, Feb. 1 from University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona at 6:30PM ET.
The Patriots have the better offense of the two on paper, but the Seahawks have the better defense. New England is averaging 30.4 points per game thus far, but Seattle is giving up just 16.3 points per game. New England has had a lot of success in the second quarter, averaging 10.6 points per game, while the Seahawks give up the most in the second, 5.6 per game. The Patriots have scored 25 points or more in 11 of their 18 games this season, but the Seahawks have held 15 of their 18 opponents under 25 points.

The interesting state here is that the Seahawks are strongest in the fourth, posting 8.6 points per game, while the Pats allow their fewest points (3.6) in the final quarter. Seattle has scored 25 points or more in nine of its 18 games this season, while the Patriots have held opponents under 25 points in 13 of 18 games.
