Final AFC Championship Odds
FOXBOROUGH, MA (The Spread) – The New England Patriots can secure another trip to the Super Bowl tonight at home. Standing in their way in the AFC Championship Game is the Indianapolis Colts. Here’s the latest odds for tonight’s 6:40PM ET game.
The Patriots went 12-4 on the season, but went just 2-3 in their last five games prior to the playoffs. Last week New England defeated the Ravens, 35-31 despite trailing 14 points on two different occasions. The Patriots are now 9-8 against the spread in their 17 games. New England has failed to cover in its last three games and they have hit the under in five of their last seven.
The Colts went 11-5 this season, but had a bad 42-7 loss to the Cowboys on the road in Week 16. They have since won three straight, including a 26-10 win over the Bengals in the Wild Card playoffs and a 24-13 win at Denver last week in the Divisional Playoffs. The Colts are 12-5-1 against the spread in their 18 games this season and they have covered in three straight while hitting the under in their last six.
According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, the Patriots are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -6.5 points against the Colts. The over/under total for the game has been set at 53.5 points (View Matchup). These two met on Nov. 16 in Indianapolis and the Patriots picked up a 42-20 win despite being a 3-point underdog. The Pats have won five straight meetings with the Colts and covered the spread in their last three against Indy. These two have hit the over in six straight meetings.
The story in the first meeting this season was the Colts inability to stop New England’s offense. The Patriots racked up 503 total yards, including 246 rushing yards from a group that averages just 102.4 yards per game. Jonas Gray had his breakout performance in the win, rushing for 201 yards and four touchdowns on 37 carries. Tom Brady was 19 of 30 passing for 257 yards. The Colts were held to just 19 rushing yards on 16 carries, so the team will hope the emergence of Daniel Herron will give them more balance. Andrew Luck threw for 303 yards, but had to basically carry the team and couldn’t keep pace with the Patriots.
