WASHINGTON (AP) – Ralph Friedgen says it’s been like “a slow death” as he prepares to coach Maryland one last time.
Friedgen leads the Terrapins against East Carolina in Wednesday’s Military Bowl at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. He was fired last week, ending his 10 seasons coaching his alma mater. His dismissal takes effect after the bowl game.
The Terrapins are 8-4, posting the second biggest turnaround in the country after last year’s 2-10 season. Friedgen was chosen as the Atlantic Coast Conference coach of the year.
Friedgen says he’s tried to enjoy practice this week – because he doesn’t know if he’ll be doing it again.
