LOS ANGELES (AP) – Scott Tolzien’s Wisconsin teammates think they couldn’t win the Rose Bowl without their steady senior quarterback taking the snaps.
Not Tolzien. He insists the Badgers would do just fine without him.
Wisconsin’s signal-caller is habitually marginalized, even by himself. After all, his offense also features a mammoth offensive line, a star tight end and three tailbacks with more than 850 yards rushing apiece.
Tolzien has often spent Saturdays handing off, yet he has become the most accurate and efficient quarterback in Wisconsin history during two seasons as a starter.
He also beat out TCU’s record-setting Andy Dalton – his counterpart in the Rose Bowl on Saturday – for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the nation’s top senior quarterback.
