MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Newly hired Wisconsin football coach Paul Chryst had more competition for the job than thought.
Not that most of the 45 other applicants who sought to succeed Gary Andersen ever had a serious shot.
Through an open records request, The Associated Press on Monday obtained applications from everyone who applied.
As previously known, Wisconsin defensive coordinator Dave Aranda was among the serious candidates who applied, along with former Army coach Richard Ellerson and a number of coaches around the country at small colleges and even high schools.
But it’s clear many applied as a joke.
Like Jarrad Dann of Arizona who says he’s qualified for the job because he’s ”ridiculously good” at the NCAA football game for Xbox 360.
