K.J. Black threw two of his three touchdown passes in the final quarter for Prairie View (9-1), which gained notoriety in the 1990s by losing 80 consecutive games.
M (7-5) took a 21-17 lead early in the fourth quarter when quarterback Deaunte Mason scored on fouth-and-1. But the Panthers quickly answered with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Black to Gabe Osaze-Ediae with 11:21 remaining.
Moments later, Mason fumbled the ball during a hit by Prairie View’s Anthony Peck, and Quinton Spears made his second fumble recovery of the game. Black then connected with Anthony Weeden for a 22-yard touchdown pass, giving the Panthers a 30-21 lead with 7 minutes left.
