LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) -Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh has won the Chuck Bednarik Award honoring the nation’s best defensive player.
Suh accepted the honor at the annual college football awards show at Disney World on Thursday night.
Nebraska’s powerhouse defensive lineman put together his best performance of the year against No. 2 Texas in the Big 12 title game. He matched his career high with 12 tackles and had 4 1/2 sacks as the Cornhuskers nearly upset the Longhorns.
Texas won 13-12 on a last-second field goal.
Suh has led the Huskers in tackles two years in a row, with 50 of his 82 this season unassisted. He finished with 12 sacks this season, tied for third-most in school history.
