RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -Virginia has called a news conference for Monday to discuss it’s football program, where it seems likely they will name a coach to replace Al Groh, who was fired a week ago.
The news conference will come one day after the school asked Richmond for permission to speak with its coach, Mike London, about the job. That’s according to London’s agent, Dennis Cordell.
Several Virginia newspapers and ESPN reported that London has accepted the job.
London spent six years as an assistant at Virginia between 2001-07.
Richmond, which won the Football Championship Subdivision national championship last year in London’s first season as coach, lost 35-31 to Appalachian State in the FCS quarterfinals on Saturday night. The Mountaineers scored the winning touchdown with 10 seconds to play.
