RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -The agent for Richmond football coach Mike London says Virginia wants to speak with his client about its vacant coaching job.
Agent Dennis Cordell says Virginia called Richmond officials on Sunday, less than 12 hours after the Spiders’ defense of their national championship ended in a dramatic playoff loss.
The Spiders were beaten 35-31 by Appalachian State on Saturday night in the quarterfinals on a touchdown pass with 10 seconds left.
Cordell says Virginia became at least the fourth school to call about London, joining Western Kentucky, Akron and Memphis in seeking the right to pursue him.
Cordell said no meetings have been set up with London and Virginia.
