KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford will have surgery to repair ligaments in his left thumb Sunday, and is not expected to miss any practice time leading up to the Sooners’ bowl game because of the injury.
Bradford hurt his non-throwing hand last week against Oklahoma State. He started the Big 12 championship game Saturday night against No. 19 Missouri with a wrap over his thumb that was hardly noticeable.
Oklahoma spokesman Kenny Mossman said doctors expect Bradford to make a quick recovery.
A leading Heisman Trophy contender, Bradford leads the nation with 46 touchdown passes.
The Sooners will almost certainly earn a spot in the BCS national title game on Jan. 8 with a victory against the Tigers.
