MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) -Simon Lamson ran for 85 yards and three touchdowns and Linfield defeated St. Thomas of Minnesota 31-20 on Saturday in an NCAA Division III quarterfinal game.
Aaron Boehme threw for 256 yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats (12-0), who won the Division III championship in 2004. Linfield advances to face Wisconsin-Whitewater next Saturday in a semifinal game.
Dakota Tracy threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns for the Tommies (11-2), who had not been to the playoffs since 1990.
The Wildcats are making their fifth appearance in the playoffs since joining the division 12 years ago.
Lamson ran for a pair of 1-yard touchdowns in the first quarter and Linfield built a 24-14 lead by the half. His third score came on a 2-yard run after St. Thomas had narrowed it to 24-20.
