SEATTLE (AP) -Tyrone Willingham will return next season as Washington's football coach, a university official told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
The school announced it will hold Willingham's routine end-of-season press conference Wednesday afternoon. The briefing had been delayed amid rumors that University of Washington President Mark Emmert was considering whether to fire him. Washington finished last season 4-9 and is 11-25 in three years under Willingham.
The university official spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement had yet to be made.
