ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -Officials in Athens say University of Georgia freshman defensive end Montez Robinson is jailed on charges involving altercations with a female student.
University police Lt. Eric Dellinger said Friday that the 19-year-old Robinson was being held at the Athens-Clarke County jail after being charged with misdemeanor simple battery and felony criminal damage.
Robinson was granted bail of $2,000 at a magistrate court’s hearing Friday. Jail officials said he had not posted bond. The magistrate’s office said Robinson did not have an attorney at his hearing.
Robinson was charged with underage possession of alcohol Monday after police responded to a call about glass breaking in a parking deck.
He is charged with assaulting the student on Oct. 20 and criminal damage for allegedly breaking taillights on her car Monday.
